The Group which have Read Only permission to some projects .
Group can see the projects which are read only on PWA . But can't see in Project Professional 2010.

Group Permissions
I have setup permissions for different Groups.
(1) Some Groups can Read-Only on some projects.
(2) Some Groups can Write-Only permissions on some projects.
(3) Some Groups can Read and Write Only permissions on some projects.
(4) Some Groups can Read/Write and Save Projects (with no Publish Rights)
(5) Some Groups can't see some confidential projects.
All are working well.
But the issue is this No (4) Permissions . because the user can save the projects but they cant see the projects in their PWA. This is OK . because we can see save projects into PWA until publish.
But we need to see them in project professional OPEN Dialog Box . but can't see their also.

Showing multiple projects with the same name in the project section of category
In the category projects section three projects are showing with the same name.although we have only one project with the name of HR.
and this is happening with the other projects also.

Timesheet in PWA/Project Server 2010
Hi,
We have recently implemented project server 2010 and timesheets. The timesheets are not connected to project plans, so instead resources insert an administrative task which is the project's name and capture time against the inserted administrative time. In other words, all task lines in the MS Project schedules are not published to the timesheets. Some of the timesheet users' timesheets were submitted, but have not appeared in the approval centre of the timesheet approver. The line manager of each department approves his resources' timesheets, so no project managers approve timesheets or any status updates. The Project Manager's timesheets are to go to the PMO Manager for approval, but she only recieved some timesheets.
The timesheets users' who's timesheets the PMO Manager did NOT recieve are in the following groups:
Project Managers, Team Lead, Team Members and a custom group called Timesheet View and Adjust with the following categories:
- My Organization - Assign Resource, View Enterprise Resource Data, View Resource Assignments in Assignment Views
- My Tasks - Assign Resource, View Enterprise Resource Data, View Resource Assignments in Assignment Views
- My Projects - Assign Resource, View Enterprise Resource Data, View Resource Assignments in Assignment Views
Users whose timesheets did go through belong to the following categories:
Team Members and custom group called Timesheet View and Adjust as above.
Could anybody please shed some light on why some timesheets are not getting through to the approver even though the resource is correctly assigned to speceific groups and the correct timeheet approver is selected for that resource?

Pass command line argument to windows installer during Installation
HI,
I'm trying to run an console application from an installer(.msi file).That console will take command line arguments.I've added that console application in Custom Action's Install section.I'm setting its argument property as TARGETDIR.
I'm able to run the application.But it won't take any parameter.
I want to know how to pass the arguments during installation?Is there any property that i need to set?
Please help me ASAP.

User constantly prompted for credentials only while browsing PWA sites
Hello,
We're running a single server farm with Sharepoint/Project Server 2010, SQL 2008 and Windows 2008.
For some odd reason, this user is constantly prompted for her credentials ONLY while browsing PWA sites. She can access tasks, timesheets, approvals, business intelligence etc...without being prompted.
She's the only user affected and it started last week. I haven't done any updates to the server and she hasn't done any updates to her laptop.
Suggestions?

Delay when assigning team resource to myself
Hello all,
when I assign a team resource to myself in WebAcces, a dely of 2 hours is in this assignment (can be seen in Project proffessional), the work is reduced by this to hours. The assigment with the team resources still remains in the task with work of the 2 remaining hours.
Thats not I expected. Any Idea what's wrong?

Project Server 2007 - Quick Launch Issue - Urgent
I have quite a big issue on a Project Server 2007 installation :
We have two Project Server instances:
* http://project/mops-prod : production instance
* http://project:84/MOPS-Test2/ : test instance
Today, I went to the test instance in order to modify values in a “Lookup table” used by an “Enterprise Custom Field” for test purposes, before doing the same in the production instance.
After this modification, I went back to the production instance, and immediately I noticed some issues and I couldn’t access some data.
After investigation, I noticed some modifications on the Project Web Access (PWA) home page: all the links in the quick launch menu have been modified and are now wrong.
For example: the link “Project Center” quick launch is now “http://project/mops-test2/projects.aspx” instead of “http://project/mops-prod/projects.aspx”
If I modify manually the link in the address bar, I will access the page without any problem
Another example, the “Server Settings” quick launch is now “http://project/mops-test2/_layouts/pwa/admin/admin.aspx” instead of “http://project/mops-prod/_layouts/pwa/admin/admin.aspx” and I can access the Server Settings page modifying manually the url (prod instead of test2).
All the url in the quick launch menu (PWA home page) are now different and wrong. If I go to the Server Settings page, the quick launch links are still goog, the url have note been modified. Concerning all the Project Workspaces and project schedules on the different data bases, everything seems ok.
It’s quite a big issue for us because our production instance is now not available and the users (about 300) are not able to access the data via the PWA home page, but they can access directly to the project workspace (if they know the url)
Have you ever heard about a similar issue?
What do you think I could do?

PWA Instances mixed up in quicklaunch
Hi all,
yesterday I stumbled over an issue the third time in 2 1/2 years. I cannot believe that it is only us that have this issue in the world - so I hope of someone else...
Imagine a Project Server farm (2007 SP3, but I had the same thing already in 2010) with two PWA instances
http://server/pwa and
http://server/test. /test is produced from a backup / restore of the 4 /pwa databases.
You use both instances for several months and everything works as it should.
Then suddenly, you come back from lunch and open http://server/pwa
You click on "Project Center" and notice: "uuuh - different colours in the website design - i must have access /test in accident?
You go back to the starting page of /pwa and hover across the quicklaunch. You find that every default link in quicklaunch accesss is now leading to /test.
Only chance to fix this - as far as I know currently - is to delete /pwa and /test and recreate them from the 4 Project Server databases. They are internally OK, the source of the issue must lie somewhere internally.
I had support calls for the first issue of this 2 1/2 years ago with no real hint how this could happen, Also for the 2010 issue 1 year ago - there I had spent the night trying to fix the issue leading to nothing apart from not being able to show the original issue to the support staff anymore.
But in both cases I was told that such an issue was unknown to Microsoft support :-(

"WSS_Content" is not restoring in the existing one
In my Project Server database I want to restore database of previous date.
ProjectServer_Draft
ProjectServer_Published
ProjectServer_Reporting
ProjectServer_Archieve
WSS_Content
All four databases can easily restore to the existing one but "WSS_Content" is not restoring. which i find on google that saying is process to kill with this database . I killed the processes with scripts of the "WSS_Content".
But it is still not allow me to restore and raise the same problem.

Project Server 2010 How to import Project and Task Data from excel
Hi,
I am trying to import project & Task data from excel into Project Server 2010. Microsoft provides a tool to import projects only but I have not seen any for tasks. Copy and paste into tasks is ok for little data but I have multiple spreadsheets to import from. Is there a tool I can use?

User credentials could not be delegated (Project Server 2010)
Hello,
I built a Dashboard with 4 Excel Reports and a dynamic filter (testing on Project List)
For one of the Excel Reports, I get the error:
"The data connection uses Windows authentication and user credentials could not be delegated. The following connections failed to refresh : SRV2-EN FIRST_Cube_EN MSP_Project_SharePoint.
- Before I connected the report to the filter, the report was displaying fine
- All my users are using Windows account
- I have only one DC
- Other report with the same connection is working fine
Any ideas ?

different totals in timephased and non-timephased data sources
We recently experience data inconsistencies in MS Project Server 2010 database between timephased and non-timephased data sources: a task (with duration of several months) is assigned a material resource. Cost, let's say 100000€, for that material resource is entered using Prof. client.
Now MS Project distributes the cost to single periods/days. But comparing total cost in timephased and non-timephased data sources for that task show different results: timephased reports only lists 96354€ for this task (e.g. Portfolio Analyzer cube or MSP_EpmAssignmentByDay table). There were no fxed cost entered, no cost per use etc. And we're just looking at 'Cost' field. Any idea what's going wrong here?

Issues with Mapping From Access Into Project 2010
Not sure this is the right forum, but I could really use some help mapping fields from an Access databaseinto Project. I recently had to upgrade from Project 2007 to 2010 and ever since then have had problems using an existing map. The initial problem I rean into was getting "OUT OF CONTEXT:Start_Date" errors when trying to map my database field name [Start] to project field name Start, and [Subtask Name] to Name, along with about 5 others.
So after a little Googling, I found out that it appeared to be an issue with Project 2010 in that is seems project 2010's default column names are different from 2007, so I went into my Access database and renamed [Start] to [Start_date] and [Subtask Name] to [Subtask_Name]...which appeared to fix my map errors and got rid of the "OUT OF CONTEXT:" errors.
But for some reason, even though you can see in the "Prevew" panel, where the first Start date is 14 June 2010 (which is the correct value)...after running the map in Project, all the tasks get imported correctly, except that all the start dates end up being set to the project start date??
I feel like there is some setting that I just don't have set correctly, but I've gone through the Options and can't seem to find any that prevents all my starts dates from getting changed.
Any help or guidance someone could lend would be MUCH appreciated. Thanks,

Questions about using PWA
Hello All,
I have been working for data entry for our new project these days. And I'm new on project server and pwa.
So while I'm using it there are many times I said, wow! this takes too long like this. there shoul be an "easier" way of doing it. Than I googled and looked through microsoft sites but can't find any solutions for some. So here are those questions any help is appreciated, thanks:
-When creating lookup tables, if it's a along table and takes time I got an timeout error. Is there a way to change timeout value?
- What are the options for bulk importing projects, resources, tasks ? (From excel files)

Access Denied for Form Based Authenticated User in Project Server 2010 site(PWA Site)

I had done forms based authentication and created a Webapplication with site collection(http://app:6464/) in claims based authenticated mode. We have created a PWA site for the same web application (http://app:6464/PWA/). Now i am trying to log in to the forms based authentication with a user whom i have created in Forms based authentication and also added him in project server 2010 manage users and given him administrator permissions.
But he is unable to log in and the error i ma getting is
